An educational event in collaboration with the Better Blood Transfusion Programme, Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service and the Department of Anaesthetics, Royal Infirmary, Edinburgh.
This event explores the use of red cells, variation in practice across the UK and the lessons learned from randomised controlled trials.
It also reflects on recent changes in thinking about the benefits and risks of transfusion (and non transfusion) in cardiac surgery, acute GI bleeding, trauma and the ITU.
